There’s “hole-in-the-wall” eating places, and then there’s “tried-and-tested-hole-in-the-wall” eating places. Galaxie Diner has certainly proven itself to be the latter in every positive possible way. Tried. Tested. Proven. Great quality. Abundant quantity. Fast service. Reliable. Familiar. Friendly. Not to mention the charm of the classic old-style diner look-and-feel.

Galaxie has been serving up breakfast menus with bottomless (and great!) coffee, hash browns and toast since 1996. Open seven days a week, this gem in Calgary’s Beltline neighbourhood is the go-to for innumerable locals. Seating in the tight booths is just that – tight and intimate. None the less, the lineup at peak times during the day is well worth the wait.

The food is super-tasty, prepared on skillets in an open kitchen. Their breakfast burritos is a staple favourite of mine, while the generous omelettes come loaded with flavour and fillings.
