If you're in search of "foody", "cosy", "established" or "vibey", then a detour into the southwest neighbourhood of Mission should be on your to-do list. Located within easy walking distance from Calgary's downtown and 17th Avenue, Mission has food, fun and finery packed into a compact corner of the city. Originating as Notre Dame de la Paix, the area later became known as Village of Rouleauville, a mission district created to attempt to maintain a strong French speaking Catholic community

The historic Calgary City Hall building, located at the corner of 7th Avenue south and MacLeod Trail, houses the Office of the Mayor.  The original building was constructed from nearby Paskapoo sandstone and completed in 1911.  In 1962 a 4-storey brick addition was added to the rear of the building.  City Hall was designated a national historic site in 1984.  Although still operating as active office space for City Council members, most of the work and council meetings take place

Central Memorial Park, located in Calgary’s “Beltline” at 12th Avenue and 2nd Street SW, is Calgary’s oldest park.  The 2 hectare park, occupying 2 full city blocks, is home to numerous attractions: 🏛 the historic Memorial Public Library is a National Heritage Site; 🗽 the Boer War Memorial equestrian statue regarded as one of the top 4-ranking statues of its kind in the world; 🗽 a WWI soldier statue; 🏛 a cenotaph, one of several locations in the City where annual Remembrance Day ceremonies

The TELUS Spark Centre is an interactive science museum that will stimulate the senses and brain of adults and children alike. The geometrically incongruent-looking glass facade structure, strikingly illuminated at night by an evolving LED light display, opened on October 2011 having previously been housed on 11th Street SW where it was formerly known as TELUS World of Science – Calgary.
